The truth is the dairy industry never had the science to prove this claim. When research was requested to prove the claim , they quickly discovered that milk consumption actually does the opposite – it depletes the body from calcium. How does milk deplete your body from calcium? Like all animal protein, milk acidifies the body pH which in turn triggers a biological correction and it turns out that calcium is an excellent acid neutralizer. The biggest storage of calcium in the body is obviously in the bones. So the very same calcium that our bones need to stay strong is utilized to neutralize the acidifying effect of milk. Once calcium is pulled out of the bones, it leaves the body via the urine, so that the surprising net result after this is an actual calcium deficit and possible kidney stones. Knowing this, you’ll understand why statistics show that countries with the lowest consumption of dairy products also have the lowest fracture incidence in their population. Does milk really do a body good? with Shira Lane Join Kathryn as she interviews award winning filmmaker, Shira Lane. Shira’s film, Got the facts on Milk? The Milk Documentary [1], is an entertaining, award winning feature documentary that dares to question the conventional wisdom of the much publicized health benefits of milk and dairy products. Addressing myth, truth and all in-between, the film is a humorous yet shocking exposition that provokes serious thought about this everyday staple. The film raises questions about dairy's role in cancer, osteoporosis, weight gain, asthma, acne, early menstruation, and more; covers the preponderance of lactose intolerance in communities of color, and explains why dairy consumption is fraught with high-stakes political, economic, ethical and environmental considerations. After a beautiful screening in Berkeley, CA at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery [1], I am currently in ShangHai, China on my way to Xian and Tibet to bring to the monks there a copy of 'Got the facts on Milk?' - The Milk Documentary [2]and speak about the perils of milk and dairy. China has rapidly increased it's milk and dairy consumption in the past few years - it is quite scary to think that in about 5 years time they are going to experience diseases only seen in western cultures. Sad that they are moving away from their original diet. [1] http://www.berkeleymonastery.org/ [2] http://www.milkdocumentary/watch

Nico, who is 8 years old, resented his mother for not allowing him to drink milk like all the other children, but after watching only 15 minutes of the film ‘Got the facts on Milk?’ - The Milk Documentary (they had a streaming problem) he secretly wrote this note at school. “I think Chocolate milk should be banned from schools infact I think regular milk should be gone to because we all know protein is good but lets talk about to much protein to much protein is not good for you the people who advertise milk lie it’s the complete opisote of what they say they say it is good for you, Well guess what its NOT!!!” The mother sent Dr. McDougal a letter thanking him for referring her to ‘Got the facts on Milk?’ and told us the story how she found this note in his school bag after watching only the beginning of the film and how he has changed. To make sure they both got to see the whole film we sent them a poster, postcards, bumper stickers and more + 2 DVDs of the film.
